Hey there!
I’m so glad you’re here.

Recently I’ve been feeling unsettled in my heart, like I’m not doing enough or maximizing the potential God created me with. It may have to do with not having a job while I live out a fantasy life in Hawaii… That’s for another place and time. Like most of us, I want to do more. I want to change lives and shape minds. And while I am doing that 9 months out of the year, it’s just not cutting it for me right now. This is where Ability To Travel is born.

A couple days ago I had just a crappy day. You know the kind – fatigued and tired, it’s raining outside and you consume enough junk food for a group of 12 year old boys. It put me in the blue zone. The next morning I woke up and decided I was going to have a great day, be productive, and start fresh! While I was basking in the sun scrolling through Instagram, I came across Marina De Giovanni’s promotion for a book about how to blog. But come on, I already have a blog. I don’t need to know how to blog, I’m fine with spending hours googling how things work on WordPress and updating and previewing a trillion times… as if! So I clicked on it and read her 80+ page PDF that basically said ‘ what the hell are you waiting for?’ It wasn’t so much about how to blog, it was finding some things I’m passionate about and smashing them together to make the gigantic passionate mess in my soul, pour out onto a page. I wish we would all do that, put our souls out for display. It’s the only way we can grow in acceptance and productive communication. I digress… so I read this PDF and start brainstorming. I love my job and I love to travel. Boom. Name for the blog? Boom. And hence, I have my platform.

God lined up my messed up row of ducks for this baby blog to happen and said ‘ope, let me just nudge this over there, and oh, this needs to — yep, ok here we go! Go for it Katie!’ My dream for this blog/website/platform is out of this world and seemingly impossible for a small-town 23-year-old special educator, but I will share that another time. For now, I hope to grow a little community here around learning and traveling with a slight emphasis on special education. 🙂

I would seriously lose my mind if you shared my website with anyone you know or everyone you know! My heart is beating fast.

Thanks for stopping by!
